“PUPILS 52 boys and girls, aged 4-11 A teeny-tiny school with just over 50 pupils in three classes – but golly, it’s a good one. A mother emails: ‘When I looked around Llangrove, the children were coming in from break and one handed me a flower on her way past, which was pretty compelling.’ Llangrove is a largeish village (one pub, one school), 15 minutes north of Monmouth in a glorious valley. Deputy head Sarah Dean is, says a mother, ‘lovely and very down to earth’, and there are two ‘fantastic’ male teachers. There’s great focus on good manners (pupil behaviour was rated Outstanding by Ofsted), and strong links with the church and the local community. We’re impressed with the IT provision – lots of laptops, iPads and interactive whiteboards in each classroom. Pupils praise the after-school sports clubs, swimming lessons in Monmouth in the summer, theatre trips to Hereford and an annual whole-school expedition – one year they went to Barry Island, which must have been a whole lot of fun.”

Care Outside School Hours

Llangrove Leapfrogs

Care is available before and after school during term time by Llangrove Leapfrogs, an Ofsted registered full day care pre-school and childcare service with a dedicated classroom and outdoor area.

Breakfast club before school from 7.45 am. Children take part in activities inside and can also use the outside play area, weather permitting. In addition breakfast and a snack tea are provided if required. Children join the other pupils in the playground from 8.40 am.

After school Club each day from 3.15 pm to 6.00 pm.

A wide range of indoor activities are available and they make use of the school grounds including the football pitch, Tarzan trail as well as the village hall play park, the church grounds and village. They are registered with Ofsted and Herefordshire County Council. All staff are fully DBS checked. Parents are welcome to view their policies and their child’s records if they wish. If you would like to know what your child would be doing on a particular day please ask their supervisors as they try to respond favourably to the ideas and wishes of the youngsters attending the session. Tea can be provided for your child, if required.
