At Llangrove we offer a dynamic, varied and stimulating program of activity to ensure that children progress physically through an inspirational and unique PE curriculum. We encourage all children to develop their understanding of the way in which they can use equipment and apparatus safely yet imaginatively to achieve their personal goals. All children have the opportunity to enjoy being physically active, maintain a healthy lifestyle and increase their self-esteem.
All children are taught PE by their class teacher, using the large outside space or school hall. Our PE Lead, Mrs Townson, overseas the planning and delivery of our PE Curriculum.
Children in Oak Class develop their dance skills during the Spring term and take part in the Moving Targets dance performance at the Courtyard Theatre in Hereford. Oak Class children also develop their leadership skills by organising regular inter-house sports competitions including: quick sticks hockey, netball, football and tennis. Â The inter-house competitions conclude in the summer with our annual sports day.
Swimming lessons for all children in both KS1 and KS2 take place in the spring & summer term at Monmouth Sports Complex. The children not only learn essential swimming skills during these sessions but learn to become more independent and develop necessary personal skills and lifesaving techniques. Children also have the opportunity to further these skills at after school sports clubs.
At Llangrove, we offer a range of extra-curricular activities for all children of all abilities to take part in. They are as follows:
